From the bright lights of the sports newsroom to the quiet struggles behind closed doors, Hamish McKay’s story is one of reinvention, resilience, and rediscovery.   

Best known for his decades-long career as TV3’s lead Sports Anchor and Rugby Editor, Hamish later became a respected voice in rural broadcasting and real estate. But while his voice was booming across the airwaves, behind the scenes he was fighting a very personal battle—with his health, mental wellbeing, and weight.   

A chance injury—and a timely meeting with a surgeon—set Hamish on a path to shed 55kg and reclaim his health. His story is one of grit, humour, and a second shot at life.

Primary ITO Dairy Goat Farming

Level 3 - Assist with Milk Harvesting and Optimising Milk Quality for Goat

Suited to those new to and with limited experience in the dairy goat industry.

What is this course? There are 3 interactive workshop style days where you will learn and gain understanding about:

• The nutritional value of milk, quality milk supply and preventing contaminants
• Understanding the milking plant and the function of the milking components
• Milk quality testing and standards
• Milk quality post calving, mastitis, treating teat disorders and unsuitable milk

You must be employed on a farm to complete this NZQA course. 

Dairy Goat Co-op are currently sponsoring one staff member per DGC farm to attend and gain this qualification, so please ask your manager if you can enrol.
